They Are Gone Now
They are gone now
The golden days of my youth
Andean Mountain nights and Amazonian days
Seeing things through a self induced haze
Of golden and reddish, sometimes black buds too
There was nothing I couldn't do
The lifestyle was free
And I could be just me
I'd love to tell what ya could see
If you could go there
They are all gone now
The golden days of my youth
Yet sometimes in dreams I relive them
And that's the truth
It is as if I am there again
Doing exactly what I did when a friend
and I played together In the Andean sunlight
and Under the Amazonian Moonlight
At night again in my dreams
It is all stranger to me than it seems to be to you
They are all gone now
The golden days, or so it seems
I'm too old to go anywhere
So I stay in bed all day and have dreams
Dreams are all Ihave now
The memories I hold dear
Dreams live only in your head
There is nothing new about what I have just said
Dreams are only in your head
They live on when your heart is dead
