A Whole New Start
A Poem by Jim Nasium
"I'll be in love with you forever"
she said as she boarded the train
I stood alone on the platform
her words echoed in my brain
I watched the train disappear
a tear fell from my eye
time seemed to stand still for me
all I wanted to know was why
Early yesterday morning
we were tangled in a lovers knot
exhausted from love making
we couldn't move from that spot
today she's packed and on a train
to only God knows where
she's done this so many times before
I wonder if I should even care
I guess things are for the best this way
after all now at least she's free
I haven't a thing to worry about
fate's already taken care of me
there's nothing more I can do
it's all beyond my power
then suddenly I realized
I was standing in a snow shower
A security guard walked up to me
said what do you think you're doing
you been standing there for an hour now
I asked him what he was chewing
he spit and said "move along"
I smiled and said ok
looked at the tobacco juice on the platform
and silently went on my way
"I'll be in love with you forever"
she said as she boarded the train
I stood alone on the platform
her words echoing in my brain
I'll never forget that feeling
her tearing apart my heart
to me this is not an ending
actually it's a whole new start...
