False Pride
A Story Poem by Jim Nasium

When you put all you eggs in one basket
and the basket finally falls apart
your eggs lay broken on the ground
shattered much like your broken heart

there's nothing you can do when this happens
but find another basket that you
can keep your new eggs in until the day
the new basket falls apart too...

II.

The grass always looks greener
on the other side of the fence
but thinking this way only causes pain
and really don't make much sense

you never know what you got till it's gone
let's face it there's no place like your own yard
accepting your humble station in life
at best, most of the time, it very hard...

III.

Self centered selfish desires
at best only last awhile
eventually you'll end up alone
with no reason at all to smile

don't put all your eggs in one basket
grass on the other side isn't greener at all
if you dig a pit you will fall in it
false pride is what's makes you fall...
