An Evening I'll Always Remember A Story Poem by Jim Nasium
Soft music played in the background
dim light made our corner hard to see
fresh fragrant flowers on our table
made the ambiance romantic as could be
The champagne we drank was a good year
our appetizers a very special treat
salad made especially by the head chef
he and I grew up on the same street
For first course Jerked Jamaican Red Snapper
long grain rice, peas, carrots and calalu
with a side of ackee and saltfish
there was even broiled breadfruit too
Second course was the chefs broiled Lobster
asparagus with tomato, garlic and rice
sweet potato pudding and banana bread
with a sauce that was loaded with spice
The tight low cut dress she was wearing
made it hard to keep my mind off her body
by desert course we were so very full
and the champagne made us both real giddy
For desert we were served Italian Cream Cake
with some Spumoni Ice Cream on the top
I had to loosen my belt I was so full
and there for a moment I thought I would pop
An evening I'll always remember
but when I think about it I want to scream
because that night we went out to dinner
turned out to only be a dream...
