I Can See Him, In Her Face, Now And Then... A Story Poem by Jim Nasium
She's the kind of girl you think you saw
on the cover of some magazine
she's kind and fair, she loves to share
and she's never nasty or mean
very educated and celebrated
in places not many people know
travelling since a kid, to places well hid
it was fun to watch her grow...
She's witty and smart, and right from the start
there was an uncanny magnetic attraction
I tried my best to win her trust
but all I wanted was a little action
and as time passed by I realized I
was falling in love with this girl
she looks hot in a dress and I confess
I would love to give her a whirl...
Her long red hair glistened
under the multi-color neon light
in front of the local Italian Cafe
we went to just the other night
her bed room eyes made me realize
we were both thinking the same thing
like a moth to a flame, there's no blame
being with her makes my broken heart sing...
We talked about places we had been
like Negril, just a few years ago
she may be thirty five years my junior
but I still got wild oats to sow
the feeling is real, but here's the deal
she's the daughter of my dead friend
and when I look at her very carefully
I can see him, in her face, now and then...
