The Bad Side Of Town
Art And Poetry by Jim Nasium

It wasn't supposed to turn out like this
this is not at all what we had planned
but some times life take twists and turns
that we just don't understand
we tried our best to go with the flow
and figured He is in control
but now that the dust has settled
there's a great big hole in my soul

Our time together went by quickly
each hour seemed just like a day
we talked about all we wanted to do
there was always something to say
but we never followed through with plans
that we made to fill our life
like finding a place to call our own
becoming husband and wife

The sands with in the hour glass
of this thing that we called us
have all run through to the bottom
a sea of hate and pus
bad memories and broken promises
won't get you very far
the last time that I saw her
she was packing up her car

We both knew this day was coming
we hee hawed around too long
she tried her best to trap me
as she sang her siren song
telling tales of love forever
but look who's leaving now
I didn't want it to end like this
but I knew it would somehow...

Some times things don't turn out exactly
the way you'd like them to
sometimes you win sometimes you loose
tell me, what else can you do
but try your best to go with the flow
keep both feet firmly on the ground
remember there's always tomorrow
and there's always the bad side of town
