I'm The Biggest Fish
A Poem by Jim Nasium

look there's another human
sitting on the shore
why don't they understand
the fish don't bite here anymore
I see them through the water
they're using special bait
but I refuse to bite
I'm in control of my fate

dangling from a hook
the best bait of the day
I want to take a bite
but there is just no way
I know better than that
I've been down this road before
I'm smarter than other fishes
I don't take the bait no more...

bobbing in the water
the float is floating on the top
humans sit trying to catch me
when will the nonsense stop
by now they should know better
the fish in this pond don't bite
it don't matter if humans sit there
all day and well into the night

dangling from a hook
the freshest bait of the day
but I can't take the chance
so I just swim away
knowing they'll be back tomorrow
I find food on my own
for some unknown reason
humans just won't leave us fish alone...
