What A Guy Has To Do
A Poem by Jim Nasium

Double beds and a nice bathroom
a chair, table, phone and TV
a large widow that had dark curtains
when opened you could see the sea
room service just a phone call away
a safe place to rest and relax
that's about all I can tell you
I'm not allowed to share the facts

a cafe with snotty people
red eyed and a little afraid
she refused to go inside
in the car she stayed
plans broken before they unfolded
deserts from heaven left behind
I swore I was gonna bend her over
and poke her in her behind

Long rides going round in circles
up hills and down in valleys
man made lakes where roads once ran
just as peaceful as you please
too much stress about petty bullshit
I just couldn't take any more
we talked about art and poetry
smack and Lucy the crack whore

Special favors performed for our dinner
after all I am known around town
free gifts and all kinds of extras
in control of all that goes down
hard to understand at first I'm sure
my intentions are honest and true
sometimes a guy just has to do
what a guy has to do...

a double bed and a bathroom
a chair, table, phone and TV
a large widow that had dark curtains
when opened you could see the sea
room service just a phone call away
a safe place to rest and relax
that's about all I can tell you
I'm not allowed to share the facts...
