The Very Next Day It's Gone
A Poem by Jim Nasium

Things have been fairly quiet
every ones got something to do
I thought I'd try to sit here
and maybe write something new
there's so much I'd like to tell you
about what's been going on
happiness is here one day
then the very next day it's gone

My doctors aren't happy about me
doing the things I demand to do
they want me to go to the hospital
the waiting time is through
I need to have my hip replacement
replaced again and then
while they have me open
they can cut away the tumors again

I only want to go to work
don't like to sit around
I really enjoy being busy
having fun and acting the clown
but it's hard for me to get around
so I guess it's time I go
back in the hospital again
and now all of you know

Things aren't going real good for me
I feel ok but I'm still sick
refusing to accept defeat
I like to buck and kick
there's something deep inside'a me
that makes me want to push on
one day happiness is mine
then the very next day it's gone...
