The Lady And The Fish

Just sitting there minding my own business
looking at my art work on the wall
I was happy that the place was busy
couldn't believe all the people I saw
the very first night of an art show
is the most important night
just then a lady with a fish walked in
she was in a hurry and looked a fright

She made her way through the crowd
then slowly walked right up to me
she was out of breath and beauitful
that much was plain to see
I stood there looking at her
then asked her to sit down
she was the center of attention
it was as if no one else was around

She sat there on the gallery couch
she had a smoked fish in her arm
a loaf of bread and some cheese
she said she "meant me no harm"
she was a lot younger than me
I asked her to tell me her name
I found myself very interested
in her, her fish and her game

she asked me to eat something with her
wanted to sit and talk for awhile
she had the greenest eyes I've seen
and a very attractive smile
I told her that I'd love to
maybe meet her later on
that right now I had an art show to do
and couldn't leave until everyone was gone

I sat on the couch next to her
the fish smelled pretty bad
the fact that I was very busy
seemed to make her mad
she jumped up and threw the fish at me
then stormed out of the gallery
I was left sitting with a fish on my lap
everyone was looking at me
